The Cultures and Practises of Branding Workshop.

Shopping will never be quite the same, ignorance was bliss. I feel like I am at home is Tesco, I know where most things are and I visit it far more than I do my family. I spend more money in Tesco than I do on my family. A lot more.
When I am walking through the aisles in the local Tesco and see buy one pizza get two free. Of course I buy them. The pizzas are fresh and when I get home they fester for a couple of days, one goes in the bin and the other was a flavour I am not even that keen on. But at least I got a bargin. Or did I? I would never have bought pizza in the first place if I had not seen the advertisment 'BUY ONE GET TWO FREE'. By the way, this did not happen recently but is an example of what happens to me on a daily basis. Personally I have never ever nipped into Tesco for some milk.  I always come out laden with food that I never should of bought in the first place. Pleased with myself because I believe (whilst I am still on my money spending high) that I have tricked Tesco into giving me lots of goodies for hardly anything. £10 for a pint of milk and some food that my flatmate will probably end up eating.
Gordan Brown said: "We must do more to deal with unnecessary demand, such as by all of us doing more to cut our food waste" and he was right.

During the workshop we had to use tools that we have learnt during lectures. We were given three kind-of-real-clients and analysed them, we had brain storming sessions and made various Perception Maps that helped us to understand these businesses.
For the first one the group chose was the canteen, we all expressed our thoughts, quickly realising that there were many more negatives than positives. We moved on to use the Ansoff Matrix and came up with a presentation within the hour.
Next a talk from Joanna Montgomery which was very interesting as she spoke about PillowTalk, we did the same again, this time better and stronger as we had learned our first steps to the procedure. Looking at strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and treat. We struggled at first, we got better at it. I am looking forward to what I will learn, slightly worried how it will change my daily life, but nether the less curious as to what Johnathon Baldwin will teach us next.
"Pillow Talk is a project aiming to connect long distance lovers. Each person has a ring sensor they wear to bed at night, and a flat fabric panel which slots inside their pillowcase. The ring wirelessly communicates with the other person’s pillow; when one person goes to bed, their lover’s pillow begins to glow softly to indicate their presence. Placing your head on the pillow allows you to hear the real-time heartbeat of your loved one.
The result is an intimate interaction between two lovers, regardless of the distance between them."

“Lindsay has an incredible emotional and physical presence on screen,” says artist Richard Phillips. “[She] holds an existential vulnerability, while harnessing the power of the transcendental—the moment in transition. She is able to connect with us past all of our memory and projection, expressing our own inner eminence.”
"Gagosian Gallery is pleased to announce ‘Lindsay Lohan,’ the first short film by artist Richard Phillips. The 90-second motion portrait of Lindsay Lohan, which Richard Phillips created in collaboration with the actor, draws from the conventions of Phillips’ painting. With this method, we can begin exploring the legacies of classical portraiture in relation to contemporary culture’s mediated representations."
